May 30 – June 1 – Little Rock, Arkansas
Stayed at the Downtown Riverside RV Park. It’s located in North Little Rock across the
Arkansas River from Little Rock. This RV
park is near the foot of the Clinton Presidential Bridge.
Day 1: got settled
in, and after lunch we walked over the Clinton Bridge to the Clinton
Presidential Center. Then walked through
L.R. River Market district. Stopped at
the H.U. Lee Garden (tribute to Masters of Taekwondo).
Day 2: took
advantage of the gorgeous riverside bike trail.
We rode our bikes from our RV sight out to the Twin River Bridge and
park, rode over the Big Dam Bridge and along the Arkansas River for a 20-mile
roundtrip bike ride. I know for you
young whipper-nappers 20 miles is a walk in the park for you. But for us older folks, it was quite an
accomplishment!
After lunch we drove to the Douglas MacArthur Museum, the State Capitol Building, the Viet Nam Veterans Memorial and the Governor’s Mansion
Day 3: We went to
the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame. It featured
all athletes that either grew up in Arkansas or had some connection with this
state. So there were many sports
represented by these athletes: horse
racing, basketball, football, NASCAR, golf, baseball, hunting, and even had a exhibit
for Pat Summerall (sportscaster). After lunch we drove to the Douglas MacArthur Museum, the State Capitol Building, the Viet Nam Veterans Memorial and the Governor’s Mansion
After lunch we hopped on the city trolley for a tour through the city. One of the stops was at the old State Capitol building which is now a museum. Stopped in at Flying Saucer for a drink before heading back to the RV park.
June 2 2017 – left Little Rock and drove 2 hrs to Memphis
TN.
