May 19-20, 2017 – Arches NP
Started at the
Windows trail. A gentle climb up a
gravel trail led to the massive North Window, South Window and Turret Arch.
Balanced Rock – a fragile, picturesque rock formation. A huge sandstone boulder perched on a narrow pedestal, defying gravity. Makes you wonder how long until it falls
From there we saw
the Double Arch. A relatively flat trail
that led to the base of two giant arch spans.
Quite impressive!
Sand Dune Arch – had to hike through deep sand to a secluded arch among fins of rock
Broken Arch – trail
took us across a large meadow, through fins with sand dunes and Slickrock. Had to do some scrambling to get to the base
of the arch.
Delicate Arch – by
far the most famous sight and trail.
