Sept 21 – Took the 2pm boat cruise out to see the Pictured Rocks.
There was a large group of people on the tour- ended up taking 2 boats out.
It's about a 15 minute ride out to the beginning of the Pictured Rocks. The rocks and cliffs that make up Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore are best viewed from the water. There are a bunch of hiking trails near the water, good for hiking but not all have good look out points. Lake Superior's rugged shoreline invites boaters to explore the beautiful Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore with its miles of colorful sandstone cliffs Unfortunately, the light fog that rolled in over the lake and the cliffs got much thicker. Couldn't see much past the bow of the boat. The boat turned around and headed back to the pier since we couldn’t see the Pictured Rocks. Even though we saw almost 75% of the cliffs, the tour company still gave all of us passengers a 50% refund on the tour tickets.
